LG ELECTIONS: CRSG Declares Thursday, 31st October, & Friday, 1st November, As Public Holidays

Posted on October 30, 2024October 30, 2024 By Admin No Comments on LG ELECTIONS: CRSG Declares Thursday, 31st October, & Friday, 1st November, As Public Holidays

The Cross River State Government has declared Thursday, 31st October, & Friday, 1st November, 2024, as public holidays.

In a press release signed by Gill Nsa, Chief Press Secretary to the CRSG, the state government stated that, the public holidays were declared to help “…ensure full participation of all Cross Riverians in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for November 2nd, 2024.”

The release adds that the public holidays was to “allow ample time for those who have to travel from Calabar to various parts of the state, particularly those in far-flung areas, to exercise their civic duty and vote in the election. The governor urges all residents to take advantage of the two-day holidays to engage in the electoral process and make their voices heard.”

Meanwhile, “only banks and other financial institutions operating within the state will remain open on Thursday, October 31st and Friday, November 1st, 2024.”

“All state civil servants and political office holders are therefore not covered by the exemption.”

“This clarification is necessary to ensure that residents have uninterrupted access to essential financial services during the election period”, the release concluded.
