The billboards have lit up the Calabar, landscape, announcing with gusto that the “Jesus Or Nothing” crusade is coming to Calabar, Cross River State, on September 12, 2025, at The Dome, Municipal Garden, courtesy of Kingdom Stars Gospel Centre. Peter Inyang, who pastors this upscale church which recently built and handed over a bungalow to a widowed church member in Lokoja, Kogi State, in this short interview, exclusive to www.calitown.com, lets us into who he is and why he is bringing this unique religious encounter to Calabar.

Tell us a bit about yourself; birth place, parents, parenting experiences that have formed you, education etc…

My name is Pastor Peter Ebuobasi Inyang. I am from Abijang community in Etung LGA of Cross River State. I was born in the now General Hospital Ituk Mbang in Akwa Ibom state before the state was created out of Cross River State. I am the second of three sons of my late mother Elder Mrs Agatha Inyang Okoro, known popularly in the nursing field as the iconic, Nurse Agatha of Holy Family Joint Hospital, Ikom, Cross River State. I am the sixth, of the seven children of my late father, Sandy Inyang Okoro.

Growing up can best be described in these words: I grew up in a disciplined Christin home because my parents were nothing short of disciplinarians.

I attended Federal Government College Ikom for my secondary education, just like I am an alumni of the prestigious University of Calabar, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literary Studies.

Take us into your family. Who is your wife, how did you two meet? How many children do you have?

My wife is Sally Peter Inyang, the daughter of the late Sunny Mbarga, who happens to be the brother of the quintessential music maestro, Nico Mbarga of the Rocafil Jazz. We met 19 years ago in Ikom, precisely on the 22nd of December 2016 and a year later we got married and we are blessed with three biological children (a boy and two girls).

How did you receive your pastoral calling? What are/were the basic influences?

It was on a faithful Monday, the 23rd of June, 2014. I was travelling by road to Delta State from Abuja in company of two of my friends; we had just finished praying for about two to three hours when I had that encounter, akin to the one from 2 Corinthians 5: 18 – 20.

They were no external influences because it wasn’t something I wanted to do, I fought hard with the decision but had to submit to the will of God.

Take us through the painstaking process of starting your ministry. Were there doubts about the efficacy of the call to God’s service? Were there days you felt like giving up?

Hmmm. This question always takes me back memory lane. My story was like that of Abraham in Genesis 12:1-5, leaving the known to the unknown, comfort for discomfort, of course great destinies are not made in comfort zones. People doubted the call but I knew I had an encounter with God and I heard him. Also it’s like King Saul doubting the ability of David to fight Goliath, maybe because of his size. But truly, I have never felt like giving up, though it wasn’t easy at the beginning but we are still here trusting God for the best because we know it’s yet to come.

What inspired the naming your ministry?

Our ministry’s name was inspired by a verse in the Bible in Daniel 12:3 “And the that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they tha turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever”.

Why Calabar for the “Jesus Or Nothing” Crusade?

This crusade is a home coming for me. A time to share the word of God with my people in Cross River State, a time to inspire people to follow Jesus or Nothing and also a time to share with many needy people, the physical gifts we have for the needy.

After the crusade, are they further spiritual engagements that will follow in Calabar?

For now our mission is to bring the word of destiny transformation, home to our people. We hope to be back next year again as the Lord permits.

What words do you have for those eagerly awaiting your arrival and this crusade?

The crusade promises to be a heaven on earth experience, it shall be a lifetime encounter for the attendees. Jesus will be present at this meeting.

Again, because we are a Care Giving church, we intend to distribute several hundreds of bags of rice to the attendees like Jesus did after a three days crusade by feeding the five thousand in John chapter six. It is not a show up, but a very deliberate attempt to reach the needy, especially in this very tough times. I am expecting a large crowd of people because the word we preach is alive and active. See you all there… God bless you as you come.
