Henry Dennis Bassey, the Ovai Otorikang I of Bahumono nation, has officially obtained his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Known popularly as the “Caterpillar” across Abi and Yakurr LGAs, Bassey picked up both forms in Abuja, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, accompanied by a delegation of youth leaders, women groups, teachers, nurses, and community heads from Itigidi, Ugep, Ediba, Nko, Ekori, and Agoi the same people behind many of his community projects.
Speaking to the jubilant crowd that accompanied him, Bassey said the forms were not a personal ambition but a response to months of pressure from constituents: “For over one year now, our people have said Caterpillar, run.”Today, I have answered with these forms”, he declared.
“This expression of interest is your voice saying you want a new direction. The Nomination Form is your signature saying ‘My People, My Project’ must enter the ballot. I’m only holding it for you.”
Bassey who expressed optimism at clinching the party’s ticket said this will be a charge towards effectively representing the people of Abi/Yakurr.
