As the run in to the 2027 general elections gather momentum, Oyama Prince – David Enang, aspiring to represent Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has advanced a solid argument why he should be embraced and supported to clinch the APC’s ticket.
Enang who spoke with www.calitown.com, advanced that, “Obubra LGA is divided into two state constituencies; I and II. Constituency I consists of the Osopong clan which has four council wards. Constituency II consists of two clans; Adun and Okum clans. Adun clan has four council wards while Okum clan has three council wards. Osopong clan has produced a member of the House of Representatives in the person of Ernest Irek. Okum clan has produced two House of Reps members; Egba Agbor and Mike Etaba. Etaba incidentally, is still serving till date.”
The Adun clan, he continues, “that is made up of four council wards, has not produced a representative in the House of Reps, from Obubra. It doesn’t come across as some political equation we should ignore. Ideally there should be an accommodating political sense of belonging, one that embraces fairness, equity and justice. It is on the strength of this that I have humbly come forth, seeking support within and outside the party to go to the House of Reps. As an Adun man, this will gladden the hearts of our people, in this shared commonwealth and address a political imbalance that should not be there.”
Pressed to outline what he will do differently, if given the nod, he responded that, “the challenges of our federal constituency are there for all to see, you do not need to travel to the moon to appreciate the dearth in infrastructure across this federal constituency. As one who has traversed the constituency and seen glaring gaps of need, someone who lives among our people in this constituency, there is so much I have methodically written down and will act upon, when the buck stops on my table. Please, let me not spill the beans now, it may be too early.”
