ACON Achieves Milestone Listing, Joins Alliance On Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice

Posted on May 1, 2024 By Admin No Comments on ACON Achieves Milestone Listing, Joins Alliance On Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice
Rekpene Bassey, ACON President.

The African Council on Narcotics, ACON, has become one of the latest members to join the international Alliance of NGOs on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

The admission of ACON into the Alliance was taken in Vienna, Austria and communicated in writing to ACON by Tobais Krachier, programme coordinator Alvazz de Frate, the Alliance’s treasurer, dated April 30, 2024.

With this admission, ACON, already boasting the coveted UN-ECOSOC status, is now a full-fledged member of the Alliance, and will enjoy the privilege and opportunity to actively engage in the General Assembly and partake in the elections of the Alliance, a privileged gathering held exclusively in the picturesque city of Geneva.

Rekpene Bassey, president of ACON, expressed profound gratitude, recognizing this latest development as a significant step in ACON’s ongoing crusade against drug-related crimes. This endorsement not only validates ACON’s tireless efforts but also serves as a powerful catalyst in their mission to foster safer and healthier communities across the African continent and beyond.

The African Council on Narcotics has long been at the forefront of the battle against drug abuse, opting for a proactive approach that extends beyond conventional criminal justice avenues. With a particular focus on youths, ACON’s initiatives are meticulously designed to raise awareness and promote effective Drug Demand Reduction, DDR. strategies.
