Members of the Adun Youth Forum, Obubra State Constituency II, Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State and card carrying members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are piqued at what they refer to as “the unfair and undemocratic process employed by the Obubra Chapter Chairman of the APC and his cohorts in the constitution of the State Advisory Committee list for Obubra Local Government Area.”
In a petition addressed to CRS governor, Bassey Otu and copied state party chairman, Alphonsus Eba, a copy of which was made available to www.calitown.com, the forum is insisting that, the State Advisory Committee’s report on the Obubra chairmanship candidate selection on the APC’s platform, “was unconstitutional, as it does not represent the actual intentions of the different blocs in Obubra Locl Government Area, but the whims and caprices of a few members of the Okum political bloc, including Mike Etaba, the member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Edima Erom, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, CRS, Denis Okpa Okpa, Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Relations and Cliff Oyira, Permanent Secretary in the CRS civil service.”
“We have it on good authority that the Chapter Chairman and his executive committee have collected the sum of N20,000,000.00 (Twenty Million Naira) from Mike Etaba to subvert justice, by personally canvassing for the zoning of the Local Government Chairmanship seat to Okum bloc, which one DUBEST ( Mike Etaba’s candidate) belongs to. Furthermore, we reasonably believe this gist as true and pray that you intervene in this situation.”
“Humbly, we pray that you exercise your powers to dissolve the committee so constituted or discountenance their report in the matter of the zoning of the seat of the Local Government Council Chairman of Obubra Local Government Area, as their report no matter how beautifully written is perceived to be bias and lop sided”, the petition pleaded.
