The picketing of some government offices by the Cross River state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, took a turn for the worse this morning with the NLC shutting down the CRS Ministry of Finance and preventing staff of the Ministry from resuming work.

At the entrance to the Ministry of Finance, separated from the Governor’s Office by a fence, an NLC affiliated union bus is still parked across the gate, while several NLC officials standby to ensure that no staff of the Ministry of Finance has access to the building. Meanwhile, state NLC Chairman, John Ushie, informed www.calitown.com that the Commissioner for Local Government, John Ulafor, has called for a meeting with Labour today, to see if there can be a way around Labour’s demands. Ushie further said that the Head of Service, whose office has since last week been under lock and key at the instance of Labour, has made no attempts to reach Labour and work at having the issues resolved.

More details shortly…..
