BREAKING: PDP Senatorial Primaries In CR South Cancelled

Posted on December 7, 2014December 7, 2014 By Admin No Comments on BREAKING: PDP Senatorial Primaries In CR South Cancelled

pdpThe PDP senatorial primaries of the CR Southern Senatorial district has just been cancelled, www.calitown.com can authoritatively reveal. At the Cultural Centre, Calabar, few minutes ago, policemen at the venue had to unleash gun shots and teargas in an attempt to disperse a large gathering of party faithfuls who seem to clearly demonstrate that the will of the people will not be subverted.

Our reporters at the venue say while Florence Ita-Giwa was hailed and allowed into the venue by a massive band of youths at the gate, the likes of Asuquo Ekpenyong and the CRS deputy governor, Efiok Cobham were prevented from entering the venue by the youths who perceive them as being part of a grand government scheme to impose a candidate, not of their choice, on the people. Sachets of pure water flew from all angles as the deputy governor attempted to gain access into the venue and it took the intervention of heavily armed security personnel who shot teargas at the crowd to ensure His Excellency was not physically abused.

Gershom Bassey, contesting in the primaries, would have lost his Prado jeep as the youths, who were bent on preventing him from entering the venue, thumped his car repeatedly. Retired army General, Bassey Asuquo was unlucky as his vehicle was considerably damaged by the youths who insisted that the General must alight from his vehicle, a request he resisted with dire consequences visited on his car.

Eyewitnesses are insisting that, “we must be allowed to choose our leaders, Imoke cannot do to us in the South what they have done in other districts, we must be heard, anyhow they want it”. As it stands, www.calitown.com is yet to ascertain, as at the time of going to press, when the primaries will held again.
