CALABAR: Landlord Fingered In Killing Of Female Tenant Remanded In Custody

Posted on January 31, 2023January 31, 2023 By Admin No Comments on CALABAR: Landlord Fingered In Killing Of Female Tenant Remanded In Custody
Etim, the suspect.

The Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State and presided over by Justice Rosemary Dugbo Oghoghorie, has remanded one Eyo Bassey Etim, 49, in prison custody for the suspected kidnap and murder of Edemawan Harmony.

Eyo who pleaded guilty to conspiracy/kidnap and murder in case number, FHC/CA/2C/2023, is believed to have killed Edemanwan, his female tenant and dumped the victim in his septic tank.

Edemanwan, the deceased.

Under cross examination, Eyo disclosed that after killing his tenant, he used her phone to communicate with her family members, to douse tension and parry suspicion away from himself. Deceitfully he sent this text message to the deceased family: “I am sorry about what I did to Sir Eyo, his agent sent me the N9 million naira, money from the sale of his house. I have the money, I’m going to America, I will reach out to you with my new number when I get to the United States…”

Recall that www.calitown.com had reported, when this story broke, that the suspect borrowed about N1.2 million naira from the victim, a Lafarge staff. The loan was help, to support the suspect’s palm oil business and was given to him in tranches. One year after, attempts by the deceased to get a refund, met a brick wall and death. Her corpse was discovered in a septic tank in the compound where she lived with the suspect, her landlord.

The suspect will be in prison custody till April 18, 2023, when the matter will appear before the learned judge.
