CJN: Walter Onnoghen’s Name Forwarded To Judicial Council

Scales of JusticeSources in the Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, have confirmed to www.calitown.com early this morning that the Federal Judicial Service Commission, FJSC, after her meeting yesterday, Wednesday, October 5, 2016, forwarded the name of Cross River born Justice Walter Onnoghen to the National Judicial Council for consideration as successor to the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed. Onnoghen, topped the FJSC’s list as the most favoured by the traditional succession arrangement in the judiciary being the next in rank to the CJN.

The FJSC also forwarded the names Justices Tanko Muhammad and Suleiman Galadima the next two most senior Justices of the Supreme Court to the National Judicial

Okurike, Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State born Onnoghen, was appointed to the Supreme Court bench 11 years ago in 2005 and looks set to enter the history books as the first CJN from Cross River State.
