CR Education Commissioner Redeploys Three Vice Principals To Classroom

Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Stephen Odey, has redeployed the three vice principals, out of the four in Government Girls Secondary School, Big Qua Town, Calabar, to the classroom, after all three were not in school at 8:00 a.m, when he paid an unscheduled visit to the school.

Odey who was received by the principal of the school, Arit Ota Onaga, frowned at the redeployed vice principals’ attitude to work and came clear that staff who do not take their jobs seriously, will be eased out of the system to make way for more serious persons to help push through the education agenda of the Bassey Otu administration.

A quick staff census conducted on the spot revealed to Odey that only 15, out of 49 teaching staff were present at school resumption time. He promptly directed that 34 teaching staff be issued queries and transferred, while the erring VPs be redeployed.

On allegations of systemic extortion of secondary school students by principals, the commissioner assured that this unfortunate situation will be checked and those found culpable will be sanctioned to serve as a deterent to others.
