CR: Group Kicks Against PDP Consensus Candidate Arrangement

Daniel Asuquo

The Daniel Asuquo Governorship Campaign Organization, has kicked against the decision of the Cross River Southern Community Elders’ Forum to present Arthur Jarvis Archibong as the concensus candidate of the PDP, from the Southern Senatorial District of the state.

Inyang, during the briefing.

Yibala Inyang, Director General of the Campaign Organization who addressed journalists in Calabar, maintained that, “…one would have expected that a meeting of a socio-cultural group under the aegis of Cross River Southern Community Elders’ Forum would have restricted their scope of operation to specifics rather than stray into contentious areas which do not fall under their priorities.”

He frowned at what he referred to as, “the wild goose chase embarked upon by this infamous socio-cultural group constituting members of different but notable political parties goofed in attempting to impose a candidate on our great party, the PDP, all to no avail.”

“We dissociate ourselves from this fragrant incursion into our party’s transparent democratic processes. The relevant provision of the PDP constitution, the party primary guidelines for electing candidates, the 2022 electoral act as amended and other extant laws, severally and collectively frowns against the imposition of candidates by or through any guise”, Inyang affirmed.

The DG ended by emphasising that, “the processes of electing candidates for the 2023 general elections is on course and we are not ready to disappoint our delegates or make a mockery of our party supporters or the good people of Cross River State as we progress with the scheduled timetable, and countdown to the party’s primaries, and God willing, to the 2023 general elections.”
