Member representing Yakurr II State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Eteng Jones Williams has splashed cash and gifts running into millions of naira to his constituents as a sign of gratitude for the support he has so far enjoyed.

Williams who visited Afaben, Labilo and Ajare clans in his constituency, while distributing wrappers to widows, WAEC registration fees and several other materials, said that his gesture to the people was “…to say thank you to all who stood by me during the hard times. I gave my promises during the campaigns and I have fulfilled 80% percent of these promises by providing employment for my people in Yakurr II Constituency, building a six classroom block here and as a as result of my effort, the Lebang/Lokpol road is in the Cross River State budget and the electrification of this pllace will be done before my tenure elapses.”

An astute politician in the area, Uket Obono, while commenting at the occasion, applauded Williams for his kindness and love to the people of Yakurr II Constituency and referred to him as a grassroot politician of the time.

In another response at the occasion, the Afaben clan went a step further by endorsing the House member for a third term. “Our resolutions is based on the unprecedented achievements by Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams in all sectors of life so far. We are pleading with him to have a second thought over our endorsement of him.”Ajere clan also endorsed Williams. The hugely successful occasion drew a large gathering of elites from the area, just like the lawmaker used the occasion to visit and consul all the clan heads in the area as well as the Obol Lopon of Mkpani, His Royal Highness Obol Sunday Obono Okoi.
