CR Senatorial Aspirant Says He Does Not Begrudge PDP

Posted on November 13, 2018November 13, 2018 By Admin No Comments on CR Senatorial Aspirant Says He Does Not Begrudge PDP
Wilfred Usani

Cross River Central Senatorial district aspirant in the recently concluded primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Wilfred Usani, says he does not begrudge the party over her role in the conduct of party primaries that have since threatened the cohesiveness and unity of the PDP in Cross River State. He however has sworn to support the PDP all the way and ensure that he contributes to seeing the party win the general elections next year.

“The thing about politics is that it targets development; the prosperity of our people. The question however is, in choosing the political vehicle that should see us achieve this, is there a political option better than the PDP, the answer is no. This is what our supporters have to understand and let all of them work for the success of this party. Those who have defected or are defecting probably have their personal agenda, but for me and my supporters, our attitude is that democracy is not necessarily expressed only during elections, we need to ensure that we participate in the democratic process, contributing our own quota to the entire political building process”, he said.

Usani, a lawyer and former Special Adviser on Tourism Development to Liyel Imoke, former governor of CRS, also maintained to the large crowd of supporters that “we must continue to build the party and make it strong,  in spite of visible anomalies. These anomalies will not be corrected if we turn our backs on the party, we can and must remain in the PDP to right perceived wrongs and help our party win elections.”

Usani, speaking at the occasion.

Usani who spoke at an informal gathering put together by his campaign organization to thank all those who threw their support behind him as he campaigned to represent CR Central Senatorial district in Nigeria’s Senate, poured encomiums on his supporters, for believing and trusting in him. He told them to abandon their misgivings and brace up for what promises to be a brighter political future for all of them, going forward.

A cross section of supporters at the occasion.

Several PDP chieftains at the event, held in Ugep, Yakurr LGA, CRS, commended Usani for having the presence of mind to come back and say thank you for all the support given him. They unanimously agreed that this was unprecedented and a show of responsibility. Prayers for better political opportunities, were said for the host at the well attended occasion.
