Former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke as well as Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Victor Ndoma-Egba, yesterday in Abuja, led an impressive guest list to the Musa Yar’adua Centre, for the launch of five books authored by the Chairman, Cross River State Sports Commission, Orok Otu Duke.

The books, Clementines (A collection of poems), Sentinels, Ellipses, My Song and Dances On The Plains, were formally presented to the public by the author who informed www.calitown.com that writing and publishing the books is his own way of expressing himself in words. “It is also another way to immortality and for me writing serves a better purpose in communication than just mouthing words,” he added.

Former governor, Donald Duke, who was a special guest at the occasion, spoke glowingly about the author and his works, when he spoke briefly with a www.calitown.com correspondent in Abuja. He enjoined other Cross Riverians who have a flair for writing, to do justice to their God given talent by authoring works for posterity like the author has done.

On why he decided to hold the book launch in Abuja instead of Calabar, the 2014 National Confab delegate believes a wider literary audience appeal drove the launch to Abuja. He however did not rule out another ceremony in Calabar to whet the literary appetite in Cross River State. Selected portions of the books were also read at the occasion that also has in attendance eminent personalities drawn from across the country and beyond.
