Donald Duke: Why There Will Never Be Peace In Nigeria’s Senate

Posted on August 9, 2018 By Admin No Comments on Donald Duke: Why There Will Never Be Peace In Nigeria’s Senate
Donald Duke

Former governor of Cross River, Donald Duke says Nigeria’s Senate can only see peace if politicians in the country do not constantly make it “a retirement home for Governors”.

Duke’s submission, posted on his verified Twitter handle this past Wednesday night, appear veiled but timed as a commentary that addresses former Akwa Ibom governor, Godswill Akpabio, who formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akpabio’s formal defection, which is rocking Nigeria’s political landscape is seen by many as only happening because of the ‘safe’ passage to the Senate that most of these former governors have and continue to enjoy. “The Senate won’t find peace until former governors stop making it a retirement home”, Duke insisted.
