From a shortlist of ten movies in the Short Films Category, the movie, “Awaiting Lazarus”, directed by Cross River State native, Orok Otu Duke Jnr, has won the Best Film and Best Actor (Foreign) at the 2015 Eko International Film Festival, held at the Siverbirds Cinema, Victoria Island, Lagos, November 21, 2015.

Described in film reviews as homage to classic horror films in the mold of Hammer House of Horror, The Witches, etc, the director also explained in one interview a little while that he “designed the film to test how long I could hold an audience’s interest, work with multiple actors (each requiring different levels of attention), and realize at least 60% of my original vision under immense pressure”.

The director’s father, Cross River born politician, Orok Otu Duke, took to his Facebook page minutes after the result was announced, proclaiming, “ you feel glad when your masquerade dances well in the village square. Congratulations son”. The film has also been nominated in various film categories at national, regional and international film festivals that will hold before the end of the year and into the new year.
