Akin Ricketts

Akin Ricketts, former Cross River State Information Commissioner in the Liyel Imoke administration escaped death by the whiskers, days ago in circumstances that have left him visibly scared and shaken, www.calitown.com can reveal.

Ricketts who was travelling to Ugep from Calabar, had to abandon his Ford Ranger truck and run into the bush when without any visible signs, the truck went up in flames and exploded just seconds after he ran out. While several attempts were made by passersby to help put out the inferno, the fire completely burnt down the truck and Ricketts’ personal effects in the truck.

When www.calitown.com spoke with Ricketts, he was full of praise to God for sparing his life. “I cannot thank God enough for protecting me from the snare of the prowler”.

We were however informed that there may have been ominous signs that he neglected before this tragedy. ” Chief was coming from the APC secretariat in Calabar where a group of unidentified persons had slashed open one of his tyres. When it was time to leave the secretariat, he discovered the damage and gallantly changed to a spare all by himself. I don’t know o, but I think those who slashed open his tyre, may have a hand in trying to hurt Chief; I hope I am wrong”, one source told www.calitown.com.

The victim is aspiring to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, from the C’R Central Senatorial District on the APC platform.
