Close to 100 volunteer Special Marshals have been decorated by the Federal Road Safety Corps in Calabar. At a well-attended ceremony which drew family and friends of the new marshals to the CRS Command premises on Marian Road, the State coordinator, Special Marshal & partnership Department of the Corps, Archibong Edem Ironbar, congratulated the marshals for opting to volunteer and so compliment the onerous responsibilities of the regular marshals in maintaining safety of lives on our roads.

Archibong was happy that the marshals were men and women of integrity, had verifiable means of livelihood and were sacrificing their time and resources in helping to reduce to the barest minimum, accidents on our roads. He charged the new inductees to see their functions as part of their constructive inputs to nation building praying that they will from time to time contribute to policy formulation and implementation in the discharge of the Corps functions.

Earlier, the Special Marshal unit, commissioned a N15 million multi-purpose hall, considered the first of its kind in Nigeria, promising that the commissioning of the project is the first in a series of projects that will be embarked upon by the unit to enhance the smooth functioning of the unit.

One of the new marshals, Daniel Abam, who spoke with www.calitown.com, while expressing happiness at his induction, gave assurances that this crop of marshals will work diligently and professionally in the discharge of their function.
