Cross River governorship aspirant and immediate past Special Adviser to Gov. Imoke on Investment Promotions, Gerald Ada, appears to have swiftly moved in to ameliorate the sufferings of commuters using the Ikom-Ogoja section of the Calabar-Ogoja-Katsina Ala federal highway, www.calitown.com can reveal. Specifically the Ekpugrinya part of the road which has become a death trap, is where Ada has commenced intervention work.

Hardcore and stone dust piles, preparatory to the commencement of the intervention were being deposited all day, yesterday, at the very bad spot. While several broken down trucks, transiting to the North were still wrestling with the spot at the time the www.calitown.com crew got to the spot, one of the truck drivers expressed happiness that finally something is being done to “help us wey dey use this road for business”.

To better understand what this intervention means to commuters, one needs to travel on that stretch of the road, making twists and turns, even leaving the road completely and using foot tracks through the nearby village, to get to the other part of the road. Villagers have meanwhile resorted to collecting money from commuters passing through their village.

Sources close to Ada say “he’s will be a highly responsive approach to governance and it begins with practical examples like this one”.
