Mbe, the suspect.

The Police in Calabar, Cross River State, say they have in their custody, one Cyprian Mbe, arrested for his alleged involvement in arms dealing and promotion of various communal wars across the state.

CRS Commissioner of Police, CP Abdulkadir Jimoh, who made this disclosure while addressing newsmen in Calabar today, added that the 52-year old suspect who was apprehended in Bendeghe, Etung LGA, during a routine stop and search operation, is believed to be a notorious gun runner, especially promoting the break down of law and order in the area with his activities. The suspect is also believed to have instigated various communal crisis in adjoining local government areas for pecuniary reasons.

While the CP made it clear that the suspect is still being grilled with a view to ascertaining if he has accomplices or is a lone wolf, 299 live cartridges concealed in a black bag, were recovered from him. He will face prosecution once investigations are completed.
