PRESS RELEASE: Display Of National Register Of Voters For Claims And Objections

Pursuant to section 19, subsection 1 of the Electoral Act 2022, the Independent National Electoral Commission, Cross River State, will commence the nationwide display of register of voters in the State for the 2023 General Elections from Saturday 12th – Friday 25th November, 2022.

The Electoral Act provides for the Commission to display the copy of the voters register for Public scrutiny not later than 90 days to the General Elections.

The display of the voters register is in compliance with Section 19(2) of the Act, which mandates the Commission to carry out claims and objections for a period of 14 days.

The schedule for the display of register of voters for claims and objections are as follows:

a) Display of register of voters from Saturday 12th – Friday 25th November, 2022.
b) Claims and objections at Registration Area (RA) ward levels from Saturday 12th to Friday 18th November, 2022.
c) Claims and objections at LGA Offices from 19th Friday – 25th November, 2022.

Commission therefore enjoins all stakeholders and electorates to take advantage of the display to visit any Registration Area (RA) and all INEC LGA Offices for claims and objections.

This will afford the electorates the opportunity to ensure that their details such as Names, Age, Unit etc. are correctly captured.

The commission views citizen’s participation in this exercise as one of the vital building blocks to a free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
