Robbers Strike At Obioma Imoke’s Value Mart Supermarket

Posted on July 6, 2016July 6, 2016 By Admin No Comments on Robbers Strike At Obioma Imoke’s Value Mart Supermarket

RobberyOne of the two robbery incidents recorded overnight (Tuesday) in Calabar, Cross River State, took place at Value Mart, the supermarket owned by former Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke’s wife, Obioma Imoke. No lives were lost, www.calitown.com can authoritatively report.

Confirmed sources say the timely intervention of men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, at the place located on the very busy Marian Road, Calabar, may have aborted what would have been a pick from the supermarket’s  till for the suspects who stormed the place at about 10:26 pm, when the mart was winding down for the day. At 03:01 pm (today) when a www.calitown.com reporter visited Value Mart, the place which still opened for business had just one security man sitting by the door, while four customers were inside the mart.

The second robbery took place around 175 White House Street, Calabar, between the hours of 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm, as a group of armed men robbed cars on the street and adjoining homes in what is sadly becoming an everyday occurrence in a town loved for its laid back and serene nature. Police sources maintain that the spate of robberies that have hit Calabar in recent times are alarming but that the Police is working tirelessly to make the town safe.
