One time Cross River State Commissioner for Lands, Surveyor Etim Ayomobi has told www.calitown.com that “the leadership of the PDP in Yakurr Local Government Area is irresponsible and the irresponsibility so displayed is behind the drop in membership experienced in the LGA”.

Ayomobi who was speaking on the heels of a political rally put together by a group, Yakurr Patriotic Forum, YPF, minced no words when he insisted, “the leadership has turned political appointments in Yakurr into their family affairs to the detriment of party faithfuls, who have worked assiduously for the success of the PDP in Yakurr”. He pointed to the commanding political in-roads the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, is making in Yakurr as a direct consequence of the “visionless leadership that Yakurr is saddled at the PDP level”.

“Let me tell you something, the PDP cannot continue to see things in Yakurr from one man’s point of view. We regret our current political standing which is pitiable,…this leadership has brought us poor election results, expensive campaigns and…contributed to the defection of our teeming supporters to the APC as evidenced in the just concluded APC membership registration”, he submitted.

Pressed for more information, Ayomobi described YPF as a group in the PDP which will continue to be in the PDP while earlier assuring the large crowd drawn from the 13 council wards in Yakurr “to be steadfast and not despair” as issues that have made the party an object of scorn in the LGA, will soon be addressed. Speakers at the rally included, Akin Ricketts, CR Information Commissioner, Bassey Inah Ibor, former member CRS House of Assembly, Eteng Eloma, former council boss, Godwin Igile and other party stalwarts. Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba and John Owan Enoh were represented at the rally and made cash donations.
