Two CR Communities Clash, Scores Die

Posted on March 7, 2022 By Admin No Comments on Two CR Communities Clash, Scores Die

We can reliably confirm that a communal clash between Ochon community in Obubra LGA and Alesi community in Ikom LGA, of Cross River State, has erupted late Monday evening with scores of persons dead or wounded and others sustaining life threatening injuries.

Samuel (who does not want his surname in print), speaking with us from an undisclosed location in Alesi, maintained to www.calitown.com that property has also been destroyed “with soldiers drafted to quell the clash, shooting Alesi people after attackers suspected to be from Ochon stormed our community. I cannot disclose my location but we have deserted Alesi and are taking refuge in the bush and in neighbouring communities.”

On the very busy Ikom/Calabar highway, passing through both communities, large parts of the highway are deserted. Scores of shacks built by the roadside where items like palmoil, yams, garden eggs and associated wares are always sold, have been visibly destroyed with fresh marks confirming that the destruction just took place.

It was immediately gathered while security personnel have been drafted to parts of the area, the reason for this latest clash is unknown.
