Ugep: Girl Dumps Baby In Gutter

Posted on July 3, 2015July 3, 2015 By Admin 1 Comment on Ugep: Girl Dumps Baby In Gutter

By Effiom Godfrey

mi22 year old Sunday Festus was on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, apprehended by the police in Ugep, Yakurr LG Area of the state for allegedly dumping here one day old baby in a gutter. The ugly incident which happened late Tuesday evening is said to be a second time the suspect will be linked to an act of this nature.

One eyewitnesses who did not want his name mentioned told www.calitown.com that he came out when it started drizzling in the late hours of the fateful Tuesday and saw a black polythene bag curiously left in the gutter close to where he stays. Driven by curiousity he decided to check what was in the bag and was surprised to find a new born baby in it, after which he raised alarm, drawing residents out to where the baby was lying.

Another witness who also pleaded anonymity said that after they found the baby, it was difficult for them to identify who must have committed the act, but they decided to go on a house to house search in the neighbourhood to find out if any one of the three known pregnant women was behind the heinous crime. He added that Sunday was later found to be the suspect and was subsequently handed over to the police in the area.

Attempts to speak with the police authorities in Ugep where the incident happened were not successful as our correspondent could not gain access to the Divisional Police Officer for comments on the case. Meanwhile the suspect who was arrested on Tuesday is currently receiving treatment in an unknown hospital in Ugep. The baby has since been buried.

It is very unfortunate, I believe the law will take cause, because it is in human.
