Usani Usani, the Minster of Niger Delta Affairs who is contending for the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River state has unveiled a lawyer, Helen Efiom as his running mate insisting that he remains the candidate of the party in the state.

Usani while announcing the woman as his running mate said she was picked after a careful selection process where six other aspirants indicated interest but she was nominated because of her passion for the people and commitment to the success of the APC in the state.

“Let all my supporters and party members remain calm and focused because I will campaign and contest the election for governor of Cross River State in 2019

“For the benefit of hindsight most of you know that when we conducted the primary, INEC officials, DSS and police monitored and endorsed the exercise but when a matter is in litigation no matter how potent your case is, it must go through the process and we are confident that we will come out victorious at the end”.

He said some people are giving the impression that the party is not united in the state which is far from the truth because nobody is hunting or attacking the other that at the end of all the tussle, the party will come out stronger.

“We have held meetings with Professor Eyo Etim Nyong and he is agreeable to our cause and we have met with Chief Edem Duke and we are still talking and at the end we shall work together”

Pastor Usani said he cannot be distracted from the ambition of running for governor of the state because his interest is for the common good and not for ego or personal benefits.

“The plot to assassinate me started fifteen years ago and now they are trying to send us stroke but they keep failing; I do politics not to get ovation but to get results and I can assure you that at the end we shall be vindicated”.

He assured his supporters that President Mohammadu Buhari would win the election in 2019 and that those who are criticising him do so because they have stolen money and are afraid that when he gets re-elected he will jail them.
