Members of De Norsemen Kclub International, Cross River State chapter have been congratulated on the successful hosting of their Converge in Ugep. Members were also charged to uphold the highest ideals that their organization has come to represent and further work at extending their milk of human kindness to individuals and groups in the several communities where the organization functions.

The Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount ruler of Yakurr LGA, Obol Ubi Ujong Inah, gave the charge when the President and members of the chapter paid a courtesy call on the monarch as part of activities to mark what the organization describes as her “1st State Wide Converge”. Obol Inah expressed happiness that Ugep was chosen to host the inaugural event and prayed that De Norsemen must work towards setting a good example in the way she conducts her activities within the state. Represented at the palace by the Okpebri of Ugep, Obol Cornelius Edet, Obol Inah said in this critical period where politics is threatening the peace and security of several communities, De Norsemen Kclub must begin to appropriately design programmes that will discourage many jobless youths from throwing their lives away in the name of politics.

He was particular that with the crop of highly trained professionals that the organization parades, she must match capacity and will in helping to tackle the myriad of problems that confront our society. “I give you my royal blessing and pray that God will grant you all a peaceful stay in Ugep, a purposeful converge as well as safe passage to your respective places when your business here is done”, the monarch said.

Earlier, President of De Norsemen Kclub, CRS chapter, John Otu Agba, said the visit to the monarch was to intimate him on their activities at the converge as well as seek his blessings as the father of the host community. “The theme of our converge is Strengthening our Flotillas for Economic and Political Benefits, Now and Beyond. It is our way of re-directing efforts to strengthen our collective membership so that we can move to the next stage of our evolution”, Agba informed the monarch.

The Converge which began with a novelty football match between the Calabar and Ugep chapters, saw the Ugep chapter pip Calabar chapter by a goal to nil, carting away the trophy donated. A visit to the Virtuous Women Orphanage, Ugep, where items worth thousands of naira were donated, preceded the converge lecture where two papers were presented by Dr. Emmanuel Akpan and Hon (Barr) Victor Edim.
