Elvert Ayambem, solely nominated by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State, for the position of Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, has exclusively told www.calitown.com, that “since our party the APC has spoken with my nomination as Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, I make a pledge today, to step forth and serve diligently, as a sign of my sincere appreciation for finding me fit, indeed for finding the son of a nobody fit for this exalted position.”

“I do not take what our party has done lightly, it comes with massive responsibility, but I must clearly say here that our party has shown that indeed, dreams do come true and my story and emergence will remain a reference point in history.”

Asked to comment on the process that threw him up, he informed that it was “internal party democracy, anchored on consistent people engagement”, adding that what will happen when the 10th Assembly gathers for inauguration will be an affirmation of the party process and not voting on the floor of the Assembly.

Ayambem who represents Ikom II State Constituency in the CRSHA, is serving a second term in the House.

Meanwhile we can also reveal that, Sylvester Agabi, will serve as Deputy Speaker, Francis Asuquo, will serve as Leader of the House. Davis Etta is the next Deputy Leader, while Hilary Bisong and Linus Bassey, will serve as Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip respectively.
