Recently appointed Board Chairman, Nigeria Ports Authority, Akin Ricketts, has donated more than two million naira and bales of wrapper to widows in Yakurr LGA, Cross River Central, in continuation of more than a decade old tradition that has seen him fete widows and shower them with gifts during festive seasons and beyond.

Precious Omini, who represented Ricketts at the presentation ceremony, reiterated that the the gesture was borne out of the the donor’s goodwill for many widows in the community who continue to live in abject poverty.

One of the beneficiaries Ikwo Bob, praised the philanthropic gesture of Ricketts and further commended him for braving present economic odds and digging deep to put smiles on the faces of the widows, many of who are enduring torrid times because of the death of their spouses.

Mary Denise Mbang, another beneficiary, commended the widow selection process, stressing that the selection process was transparent and accommodated several widows who were not accommodated in the last exercise. The widows later prayed for the donor and sang praises to extol his community service spirit.
