UPDATE: 7 Die In Renewed Communal Clash

Posted on November 15, 2018 By Admin 1 Comment on UPDATE: 7 Die In Renewed Communal Clash

Houses are believed to have been burnt, several persons injured while seven persons, at the last count, have lost their lives in the renewed communal clash between Ediba and Usumutong communities in Abi Local Government Area, www.calitown.com can report.

Hard pressed local sources in the area were unable, at press time, to ascertain the distribution of casualties on both sides, but confirmed that both communities recorded casualties. “Houses were burnt but that is of no immediate consequence; what is, remains the lives lost in the last 24 hours. As I speak, we cannot find the corpses of four of our brothers, confirmed dead. We will live with it and wait for our turn”, one source who cannot be identified for security reasons, told our reporter.

Arrangements we hear, are being made to evacuate the injured to the government hospitals in Itigidi and Ugep.

Way Forward: Let the Cross River State government take over the very pieces of land that seems to be creating this crisis between the two communities, to either build a police barracks or something more significant to end all of these struggles.
