Ogbiji Nyiam, a strong contender who has eyes firmly fixed on becoming the next State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State, pens a few lines for party faithful.
My dear fellow members of the All Progressives Congress, I greet you all in the name of progressive solidarity.
My name is Ogbiji Nyiam, I am from Idum in Mbube West ward I, Ogoja Local Government. By God’s grace I am also a father of three, just like I am an administrator/ manager with strong interests in politics and business.
On January 1st, 2021, after thoughtful introspection that bothered on the state of our party, as well as exhaustive discussions across board, I became convinced that I am mentally, psychologically and emotionally prepared to put myself forward and run for the office of Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State.
Respected party men and women, in conceiving this aspiration, I went about informing several party men and women, all of them priceless APC stakeholders. Reasonably, this could not have been an open campaign at this initial stage, it had to, respectfully be consultation that is personal… I am still on this path. For those that I am yet to meet, please be rest assured that though the uneveness of time and chance persists, I will reach out to you because I respect and recognize all members of this great party.
Let me clearly state that upon the defection of Sen. Prof Ben Ayade KSJ, the digital governor of Cross River State into the APC on the 20th of May 2021, my aspiration was further reinvigorated and became a subtle fulfilment of a personal prophesy that I was not going to lose any election when I am state chairman of APC. To reitetate my prophesy, we shall not lose any election under my watch as state chairman of APC; I will not only strive for it but will be in the field to ensure this happens. I am a work in progress and believe seriously that our party is on the threshold of making history, something I will positively drive.
I will unmistakably engage all stakeholders of APC and always work with our great leader, who happens to be one of the most intelligent leaders of our time, in ensuring that internal democracy, transparency and the positive exigencies of our political existence are upheld.
I must state too that, I do not hold any political appointment and have no hidden agenda that I am pursuing as I put my measured steps forward. I have simply come forth because I am inately convinced that as Chairman of the APC in Cross River State, I will help restore pride to our party, bring onboard a sense of justice and equity as well as offer responsible leadership that will protect every member and ensure that CRS grows through sustenance of the 100 years vision of His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade.
Importantly, our party shall have a formation that encourages the functionality of all party structures as enshrined in the constitution as well as a proper management of the expectations of the electorate with prompt and effective response to opportunities in line with the dynamics of our surrounding. I will engage the party at the National level and His Excellency to support party officials in training on their roles and responsibilities for an open and inclusive party that will be equiped with positive voters perception.
Let me thank those who have so far given me their honest encouragement and assurances.
The Cross River State APC that I seek to lead will be in a position to crank effective and dynamic campaigns into life. These processes will help encourage healthy competition while party cohesion built on robust engagement of every party man and woman for proper harmony and ingenious integration will hold sway.
We shall open the party to volunteers for a more inclusive and wider participation of people in the affairs of the party. I have held many party and administrative positions but in all, I have been more focused on selfless service to better the people and strengthen the institutions that I have served.
It is on this note that I present my self to you, to thrust me forward to pilot the affairs of our party. APC. CRS.
