The three suspects sitting and surrounded by NSCDC officials.

Vigilant officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Cross River State, have arrested three men, conveying adulterated diesel and kerosene into the state, to be sold to unsuspecting users.

The products, as concealed and loaded on a truck.

Believed to have come in from Port Harcourt, Rivers state through Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, the 71,000 litres of adulterated diesel and kerosene were conveyed in sealed water proof bags and further deceptively concealed in cement bags. Luck ran out of the suspects when they were intercepted by men of the NSCDC on the Calabar – Odukpani highway.

Sources inside the NSCDC told www.calitown.com that upon inspection of the adulterated products and interrogation, the suspects accepted that the products were adulterated and meant for the market in the state. “You think these people are unmindful of the harmful effects of their products and entity. You now understand that their desperate attempt to conceal the adulterated products go to show how wicked they can be to an unsuspecting public who will now buy the products and face the consequences of using them at home, it is so unfortunate”, the source said.

The suspects have since been taken into custody.
