In what can be described as a significant recognition of the role chapter chairmen play in the emergence of party candidates for elections, Wilfred Usani, a lawyer and senatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and his “One Central Campaign Organization”, held an isolated event to fete chapter chairmen from the six LGAs of CR Central Senatorial District, as he kick starts the second phase of his consultations.
Usani also used the occasion to formally inform the chapter chairmen drawn from Boki, Etung, Ikom, Obubra, Abi and Yakurr LGAs, that he intends to seek the party’s nomination to represent the Central Senatorial District in Nigeria’s Senate. “I clearly understand the role you people play in the party and if I am to make positive progress, I must, like I have done here, create appreciable time and space to interact with you people, respectfully informing you of my ambition. Our One Central Campaign Organization, will soon commence a tour of the LGAs in furtherance of this ambition, I am sure that after this engagement, as I arrive your respective LGAs, I will receive a warm welcome. I count on you all and must state here that I am honoured that you all honoured this invitation in person. This is the clear beginning of good things to come and the service functions I will discharge when elected”, he said.
Godwin Igwe, the Chairman of Chapter Chairmen, present at the occasion, thanked the aspirant immensely for specially inviting them to the event. He was particular that, Usani was “the only aspirant who has deemed it fit to call us together and interact with us”, adding that it is a demonstration of his knowledge of the key role chapter chairmen play. He assured the aspirant that the chapter chairmen and the 66 wards of the six LGAs will not forget this gesture.
Earlier, Gerald Tawo Odok Director General of the One Central Campaign Organization, while welcoming all to the event, expressed happiness that all those who came to the event were convinced that the aspirant has immense capacity to be of great benefit to the Central Senatorial District if he wins the party’s nomination.
