Anger, Uneasy Calm Grips CR Agency

Anger and uneasy calm has gripped the Cross River Geographic Information Agency, CRGIA, as staff of the agency approach a landmark eight months without salaries, www.calitown.com can inform.

Our investigations show that the anger situation has been heightened too by the recent disclosure that management staff of the agency are owed no salaries while all other categories of staff have drawn no salaries since January 2016.

Those in the know who spoke with www.calitown.com insist that this plum agency of government responsible for regulating, electronically capturing and storing land related transactions in Cross River State, has received no operational funds from the state government in a long while, eventhough the agency has been generating revenue for government.

“For an agency that is a money spinner for government, it is unfortunate that staff have not been paid. I also think that the people in her management cadre who manipulated the system in their favour and have been all at ease collecting their salaries while all other staff live from hand to mouth, demonstrate a heartless criminal disposition”, one source said.

However, a pro-management source who spoke over the phone told www.calitown.com that “we can all say whatever we want to say about the CRGIA management, but they are not responsible for this situation, government is. See, for instance, how many consent and registration of land agreements, a high revenue source for the agency, have been recently signed by your governor (Gov. Ayade) who has refused to delegate this function to anybody. These are the things we should be looking at instead of attempt to malign this agency’s management, crippled by a government hurrying to nowhere”.

As it stands, it does appear respite is not in sight for staff of the agency. Not many of them were willing to have their views on their painful situation, in print, but it is visible from their body language that all is very unwell.

This is shocking, imagine all those workers with their families managing from hand to mouth. I believe our amiable Governor will sort this out. God willing
