Cross River State governor, Bassey Edet Otu, has issued an immediate directive to reverse the recent postings made by the Cross River State Secondary Education Board.
The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gill Nsa, stated that the governor, “disapproves of the allegations of bias, financial motives, and lack of transparency surrounding the postings.”
The reversal of the postings, the release insisted, “will remain in effect until further notice, and any individual who may have made payments to influence their posting is advised to request an immediate refund.”
“The Governor is dedicated to implementing higher standards and implementing reforms in the state’s educational system”, the release said.
Informed sources within the state educational system are believed to have raised a red flag to the effect that a small powerful clique of persons within the system were responsible for the posting of financial bidders to choice schools.
“Those so posted are often requested to make periodic financial returns or bear the risk of being posted to less lucrative schools. The first consideration is to bid to be posted to schools with a high student population. Even some school principals who are not qualified to head those big schools, are posted there after paying humongous sums of money. Thank God the governor has stepped in”, we were told.
