Police Arrest, Parade Lady Who Blackmailed Calabar Transcorp Hotel

Posted on October 21, 2021 By Admin No Comments on Police Arrest, Parade Lady Who Blackmailed Calabar Transcorp Hotel
Norabeth Lebo, when she was paraded.

One Norabeth Lebo, a 33-year old lady, has been arrested and paraded by the Zone 6 Police Command, Calabar, Cross River State, for allegedly blackmailing Transcorp Hotels Calabar on social media.

Nelson Okpabi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, the Public Relations Officer for the Zone, revealed that Lebo was arrested on October 18, 2021, for lieing that two Canadians who lodged in the hotel in September were robbed of their belongings and their rooms ransacked.

“On interrogation she claimed that she was scammed by someone who claimed that two Canadians were robbed of their valuables and this information went viral on Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms thereby causing damage to Transcorp Hotels”.

Okpabi said Lebo in the video called Nigerians criminals and caused damage to the Transcorp Hotels without verifying the information she put out. “This has not only discredited Transcorp Hotels but also brought disrepute to security forces and Nigerians as a whole for calling them criminals on social media”

Security operatives from the zone are believed to have worked tirelessly in the last one month in a bid to track the lady and ask her to verify the facts she put out on social media, before her arrest on October 18, 2021.

Confronted, Lebo said she acted on information she had from a Tiktok chat with someone in Canada. “It is a mistake on my part to have posted the message on Tiktok without verifying the information. I acted on impulse and feel sorry for what I did. I apologise to Transcorp Hotel and all Nigerians”

She apologized for calling Nigerians criminals and blackmailing Transcorp Hotel.
