See Gubernatorial Aspirant, John Upan Odey’s Reaction To Communal Clashes In CR

John Odey

The violent clashes in our state are increasingly becoming frequent and this sure will have destabilising impacts on governance and the society at large.

I weep at the loses of lives, and I wish to have that “magic wand” to wave so that our peace will take it’s rightful place.
Maybe I have this wand which I see in the hands of you and I.

We are one. CROSSRIVER IS ONE. Killing each other, burning houses, and resorting to arms is not a way out of this. We only end up impoverishing ourselves and destroying the peace of our children who will grow up with hearts of hate, thereby resorting to violence as a means to solving problems.

My people from the GOOD CROSSRIVER, these loses cannot be quantified. Lives lost cannot be brought back. Future ambitions of many, including that of our children cut short and distrupted. Local economy suffers grevious harm and investors end up being scared by all these violent conflicts in the polity.

I ask these warring communities who are Brothers and Sisters:

  • Is this our motive?

-How can we move past this harm we cause each other… have caused each other?

My heart bleeds.
We cannot become the peaceful and the “Good Crossriver”-this nation’s paradise, with this form of label.

My name is John Upan Odey jnr,and I want to use this medium to commiserate with our families that have been affected.

The peace we crave for begins with you and I.

It begins with US.

Let us stand, TOGETHER, for the GOOD CROSSRIVER.

God bless us all.
