Traditional Rulers In CRS Go Native In Fight Against Insecurity

Posted on November 30, 2020 By Admin No Comments on Traditional Rulers In CRS Go Native In Fight Against Insecurity

Traditional rulers in Cross River State, have in a widely circulated public notice informed the public of their decision to “invoke Native and Traditional Sanctions…against the perpetrators of Kidnapping , Armed Robbery and other criminalities and vices.”

While the notice addressed no specifics in the native methods that will be applied, the traditional rulers advanced that their decision was “… in keeping to their role (sic) as Ambassadors of Peace and custodians of Tradition; and in support of the State Government and people of the State”, who have borne the brunt of “continuous violation of Public Peace in the aftermath of the #endsars riots and other challenges in the state”, the notice added.

The unsigned statement which however advised Cross-Riverians, visitors and the general public to go about their normal daily businesses without fear, comes across as much needed support to the state government which clearly appears to be running out of ideas as the spate of kidnappings have attained alarming proportions, especially in Calabar, the state capital
