For large parts of yesterday, Sunday afternoon, December 3, 2016, a large contingent of bikers drawn from Nigeria and beyond, excited a healthy crowd of spectators who lined the road from the U. J. Esuene Stadium, through Eleven Eleven, Mary Slessor Avenue, Marian Road, unto Efio Ette roundabout, as the bikers embarked on their performance rehearsal for this year’s Calabar Carnival.

Led in a colourful convoy by state governor, Ben Ayade, the bikers took turns at biking stunts to the admiration of cheering spectators. It was all bike engine rev and stunts at a test run Carnival organisers say will help fine tune preparations for this segment of the Carnival activity introduced by the Ayade administration.

“I came here because l was carried away by what these bikers did last year. I am in love with these power bikes and the energy the bikers are displaying and l just can’t wait for the real performance at the Carnival proper. This is so exciting, energetic and colourful…”, a lady who gave her name as Winifred Bassey, told www.calitown.com.

One of the bikers who rode in from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, could not hide his excitement when he disclosed that, “I came here to have fun and you can see that we are powering that fun with our exotic power bikes. The Metallic Bikers Club will lead other bikers to the Carnival Bikers Festival holding on December 27, 2016, from 3 ~ 6 pm. The bikers will take off from the Mary Slessor roundabout all through extensive portions of Marian Road to Efio Ette roundabout.
